Hi! I’m Jenna and this is Flynn who is my Golden Retriever.
About Me-The Dog Trainer
I am a positive reinforcement based dog trainer in Chelsea, Alabama which is outside of Birmingham. I teach dogs to want to work without using intimidation, pain, or fear. If you are interested in having me train your dog then please Contact Me. I would love to help you and your dog become a better team!
For as long as I can remember, I have been obsessed with dogs. I can spend hours on end researching dog food, obscure training methods, or learning all about the newest breed accepted into the miscellaneous group at AKC. But most of all I love being with and training dogs. I love seeing the look on the dog’s face when he finally “gets it.” Because of this, I’m excited to train and show Flynn in Rally, obedience, and agility.
Flynn-My Golden Retriever
Flynn is a one-and-a-half-year-old Golden Retriever who has pretty much the perfect temperament in my (probably biased) opinion. He is extremely loving and always wants to be right at my side but he is not quite as outgoing with strangers as most Goldens. However, Flynn loves to go places and really is up to do anything as long as he is with me. I am having tons of fun training him because he is smart and loves to work.
I just started to show him in Rally. After just two weekends of shows, we finished his Rally Novice (RN), Rally Advanced (RA), Rally Excellent (RE) and Canine Good Citizen (CGC) titles. Now, we are work towards his Rally Advanced Excellent (RAE), Rally Masters (RM), and Rally Champion (RACH) titles. Soon I plan to start working towards his Trick Dog titles. I’m so proud of him and we are having so much fun!
Princess and Samson-My Toy Poodles
I also have two Toy Poodles named Princess and Samson who are both eleven years old. They have been my constant companions since they were puppies and I was a teenager. Princess still acts like a young dog and Samson is in great health too but he has always acted like a grumpy old man. Haha! Both of them are only about five pounds but they clearly think that they are massive dogs. Princess loves to try to play with Flynn. She will bow down, playfully bark, and dart around hoping for them to play with her. Flynn never knows quite how to handle this and always looks to me then back at her just wondering what to do with this minuscule dog. While this blog won’t focus as much on them, they will make periodic appearances and they have a monumental impact behind the scenes.
About “Loving a Dog”
In this blog, I will write training “how-to” articles and share other information that I find to be helpful with my dogs. I will also write about the training that Flynn and I are doing, the places that we go, issues that we encounter, and antics that he gets up to. While I want to write this blog partially to document the progress that Flynn and I make, I mostly want to share my experiences with other dog lovers and help some people with their own dogs. I hope that you stick around!
